Healthcare Employment Contracts

Whether you are a physician, dentist, or chiropractor, striking out after school to get your first job can be overwhelming. When you receive an offer or a letter of intent (LOI), you should hire a lawyer to review before you sign anything. So why hire an attorney experienced in doctor employment agreements? First, an experienced attorney will know a great deal about the your local health care market and your prospective employer. Depending on the size of the employer, we may have previously reviewed and negotiated employment agreements for other physician clients involving the same employer. If so, your attorney may be able to provide insight into what the employer may or may not be willing to negotiate.

Second, we will be able to give you insight into some of the questions you have regarding the employer and market. For example, we may be able to give you a good sense of the employer’s reputation for quality in the community, competence, stability of its leadership, and how it treats its physicians; in so doing, the attorney is able to provide invaluable input regarding whether or not the prospective employer would be a good fit for you.

Not all attorneys are adept at reviewing and/or negotiating doctor's employment agreements, but the attorneys at Juris Law & Mediation have many years of experience in these types of agreements and one of our Founding Partners, MaKenzi D. Higgins specializes in dental transactional law including employment and associate agreements. Call our Juris Law & Mediation office today to talk to an attorney about your contract needs.
